Places for People is inviting members of the community across East Hertfordshire and Harlow, to learn more about their proposals to build up to 10,000 new homes in the area and to listen to their views.
The developer wants to share its proposals with local people for development on Gilston Park Estate, located to the north of Harlow, which will deliver much-needed housing and infrastructure for the area and support lasting regeneration of Harlow.
Both East Hertfordshire and Harlow Councils are currently developing their Local Plans which must show how they can provide the large numbers of homes they need over the next 15 years. Gilston Park Estate is just one location being considered.
Posing the question, ‘Where Will You Live in 20 Years?’ Places for People will be visiting various locations with a bus tour and is asking the community to step aboard to tell them what they think; not just about whether this is the right location for major development, but also about the range of homes, new schools, facilities, transport and services that Places for People would deliver, to benefit local communities now and in the future, as well as assisting with regeneration for Harlow.
A team will be on hand to answer any questions and provide further information on what the proposals entail and what it will mean for local people.
Mary Parsons, Group Director of Places for People said: “We have been working on these proposals for over six years and we know from talking to people previously that there are concerns and that they want to have a say not only where new houses will go in their area, but reassurances that the investment in infrastructure can be delivered and that schools, healthcare and other facilities will be built when they are needed. We know people will want to know more about the impact on the countryside and existing communities and we want to talk to them about all this and more.
These homes are needed in this area to support future generations and we want a genuine discussion about where are the best locations to deliver them. We are committed to delivering the investment that is needed to support them and to ensuring that Gilston Park Estate will be a great place to live. We are really looking forward to hearing what people from all areas have to say.— Mary Parsons, Group Director of Places for People
She added: “No planning application has been submitted and this is your chance to see what is actually being proposed, discuss your views and have a real say in shaping our proposals. Please come and join the debate”
The bus will be touring the following areas from Thursday 19th September to Saturday 21st September 2013:
